Catherine Johnson is well known as a book author for children and young adults; she conducts creative writing courses in schools, museums and book stores, is active at children's literature festivals and does projects with prison inmates. Her books' protagonists are often young people of colour, 'people like myself', as she says, who become characters in historical fiction and find social recognition through self-confident and courageous acts. Her most recent novel, The Curious Tale of the Lady Caraboo, focusses on a young princess who is accomodated by a wealthy London family.
