CRITICAL DIVERSITY STUDIES

May 23rd - 31st 2017

This Spring Academy, organized through the DIVERSITAS network, introduces a variety of concepts for the analysis of social and cultural contexts. It focuses on different media and forms of cultural representation. Drawing from a wide range of theoretical approaches to discourse and power, memory and time, race and whiteness, gender and queerness, class and popular culture participants reflect on the production of knowledge around symbolic and material cultural practices. In workshop sessions and keynotes with lecturers from Nigeria, India, South Africa and Germany we will explore the notion of Critical Diversity Literacy also in relation to Augsburg’s history and present.
